Italy in September
Weather in Italy in September
Italy's balmy Mediterranean weather extends well into September, and depending on your location, you could stay on the beach all month. Down in southern Italy, you'll still get highs of 27°C and with the locals back to work and school, you'll have the beach to yourself.
Up north, the temperatures drop a few degrees, particularly around the mountains, and the evenings may get a little chilly.
When we were invited to a September wedding in Florence our first thought was ‘Road trip!’ (Second thought, ‘Food!’) It’s simple and affordable to get to the major Italian airports, but if you’re looking for a different kind of adventure you might fancy a bit of ‘fly and drive’ so you can take a car from Switzerland through the Alps, and across the world famous roads of Stelvio Pass, down into Italy.
Incredible scenery, tunnels, lakes, mountain forests, fresh clean air, snow, sun, and 48 hairpin bends. It really is something else!
Coming down the Alps, through the clouds and orchards, into Italy was one of the most joyful moments of our trip. The colours of the fruit on the trees, their sweet scent on the warm air, and the golden light spilling through amongst the leaves - just wonderful. We are so lucky to have the world on our doorstep and the ability to explore it.Karen Harvey, Lifestyle Photographer & Writer: idontlikepeas.co.uk
