Dominican Republic in December
Weather in the Dominican Republic in December
If there’s anywhere that you can find a relaxing and warm winter holiday it’s the Dominican Republic in December. Embark on an adventure in the Caribbean while everyone back home is dealing with sleet and snow.
At a gorgeous blue-skied 23°C, and bath water warm seas of 27°C, the Dominican Republic’s December weather will be something you’ll come back for year after year.
Punta Cana weather
The Dominican Republic is certainly hot in December if you're after some off-peak sun, cheap rum and Jurassic Park-like pastures. I avoided the popular resorts Punta Cana and Puerto Plata and headed somewhere a little more undiscovered in the resort of Las Terrenas, located in the North of the island.
I stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo which is a large resort with plenty to do, lots to eat (there are SIX restaurants) and nearby villages to explore. However, if you're like me and don't fancy leaving the resort much, the beach area is absolutely divine.
Make sure to try some Mama Juana, you've been warned
My highlight was visiting Cayo Levantado, also known as Barcadi island, which is only accessible by boat and lying on then crisp white sands and not wanting to come home. The weather in the Dominican Republic is perfect all year round and even if you do get caught in the rain, remember it's an island and all storms eventually move on. Don't let hurricane season put you off.Charxo, Travel & Lifestyle Blogger: memoirsmusings.com
