Affordable one-way flights to Austin/Texas

Often overshadowed by the likes of its neighbours Houston and Dallas, Austin is a southern gem in its own rights. Home to stunning parks, delicious BBQ and Texas’ favourite waterhole, a holiday in Austin is sure to hit the spot. Among Austin’s landmarks is the magnificent State Capitol where you can see the fascinating portraits of all the past Governors, the House and Senate chambers and extensive gardens dotted with impressive statues. The LBJ Presidential Library is next on the list of American history tours and this one is a treasure trove of information. If that’s not enough, the Bullock Texas State History Museum is filled with historical stories and artefacts about the glorious state of Texas. For some wacky activities, spend some change in the vintage pinball machines at the Pinballz Arcade, or try for a hole-in-one at the fun and quirky Peter Pan Mini-Golf.

Both these attractions are BYOB (bring your own beers), making them perfect places for a laid-back date. Outside, there’s the cool waters of the Barton Springs water hole – Texas’ favourite place to cool down. This giant natural pool is great for swimming, sunbathing or even snorkelling. If Barton Springs is too busy, Hamilton Pool is another beautiful option. Back in the city, there’s the gorgeous gardens of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center where you can see the former first lady Johnson’s collection of wildflowers, or Zilker Metropolitan Park where you can swim in the lake, take a train ride, or enjoy one of the regular live music concerts.
