Thomas Cook Airlines – airport security advice - As has been reported, new security requirements have been introduced that will affect some routes in and out of the UK, with increased security checks anticipated at some airports in the UK as well as overseas. We continue to work with the authorities at the airports we use on matters relating to security, and are advising customers to ensure that all electronic devices taken on board a flight in hand luggage are fully charged before departing from home and for their return journey. We would also advise customers to allow extra time to pass through security as a result of these measures.
In instances such as these, we follow the advice of the relevant Government
DfT guidance as per the link: www.gov.uk/hand-luggage-restrictions/electronic-devices-and-electrical-items
We have been made aware that a section of the M56 Motorway will be closed from 1st - 4th August as part of the Highways Agency two year improvement plan.
From the information we have received, the motorway will be closed in both directions between junction 5 at Manchester Airport and junction 6 at Hale from 22:00 on Friday 1st August to 05:00 on Monday 4th August. It is understood that the result of this closure may affect those who will be travelling to and from Manchester Airport. It is reported that diversions will be put in place and drivers are requested to use alternative routes during the closure.
Drivers wishing to access the airport from the M60 and Manchester will still be able to use the airport spur from the westbound M56 at junction 5. Drivers travelling towards the airport along the eastbound M56 from North Wales and Liverpool will be required to leave at junction 6 for Hale and use the diversion in place.
If you are due to travel to Manchester Airport we advise that you allow extra time for your journey and check traffic conditions before setting out.
